Of course you have, so have we. Most people have heard the term MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) and usually at the end of that the word, scheme is added giving the whole business model a bad name. MLM is a marketing strategy in which the sales force is compensated not only for sales they personally generate, but also for the sales of others they recruit, creating a downline of distributors and a hierarchy of multiple levels of compensation. Contrast effect The attraction of an offer can be increased significantly when contrasted with a similar but worse alternative. All of us who have ever gone house hunting will swear by it. Agents first take us to a house in a bad shape and then immediately after that take us to a house that is a little better than the first house. But the price quoted in the second case is always overstated. The contrast effect becomes relevant in the context of an illegitimate MLM scheme when the prospective investor starts comparing the returns on the various schemes available in the market for investment at that point of time. The high returns of the scheme stand out clearly and attract gullible investors. The Greater Fool Theory At times, investors might understand that the MLM scheme is nothing but a Ponzi scheme, but they would still be willing to enter the scheme, because they feel that some greater fools could be depended on to enter the scheme after they have and this would give them good returns on their investments. In closing Over the years, investors have been fooled into investing their money into illegitimate MLM schemes, which keep appearing in various forms. Investors ignore the most fundamental principle of investment: One cannot expect to make large profits without taking risk. Whenever a large amount of money is at stake, individuals should logically seek large amounts of information on where they should invest. But most investors do not do so. Few ask the right questions at the right time and are naive enough to believe in what is communicated to them by the people carrying out the fraud.

Whichever the reason, Network Marketing is worth embracing for a number of reasons. The system allows an individual to be successful by means of residual income generated from a team of representatives. These representatives, though under them, do not work for them. They too have their own vested interest in the company and it’s success. Even when a person has not met his/her individual financial goal within a period, those in the tiers below may have closed the gap by their collective sales as a team. Aside from the universal benefits of the MLM system, there are also advantages particular to the Beauty industry, or industries that are typically associated with a clientele. In addition to the benefits of MLM team support, there is the benefit of one’s pre-existing clientele who often act as a second team. They have already decided to put their faith in a specific service provider as a trusted source when it comes to services and product knowledge. When a client is introduced to a new exciting product, they quickly spread the word to friends and family. This becomes a form of free and effortless advertising for the MLM business! Yet another perk for MLM business owners in the Beauty industry is the ability to incorporate their Network Marketing products into their existing line of work. For example, one may begin doing body wraps by It Works at a spa or salon, carry Miessence Organic products at a cosmetic counter, or adorn a client with Stella & Dot jewelry during a wardrobe styling service. The list goes on…

The law has provision for upto 10 years imprisonment and Tk 50 lakh fine for running MLM businesses without licences. If an existing MLM company fails to apply to the government for a licence within 90 days of effective of the law, its operators will also be penalised, it said. The law allowed the MLM companies to trade eight types of products household, electric and electronics, home appliances, cosmetics and toiletries, herbal, telecom services, training-related products and services, and agricultural products. Airport apps

But unfortunately this doesnt happen. As the saturation is neared, desperate members start resorting to unethical practices with a sheer greed of making quick money. So what are the reasons MLM companies go phut so often? 1) Because members are all told that it is all very easy: Many prospective members are told, You just invest the money, I will bring more people and enroll them under you. You dont have to do anything. Those who fall for these assuring words feel cheated if their friend fails to recruit people under him, resulting in loss of his investment. 2) Because members are given the wrong picture: Use one credit card to make payment now. After 50 days, use balance transfer facility and transfer the balance to second credit card. Youll get three months time. This way you can get your money back. But in most cases the member doesnt recover his investment back in the first few months. Besides losing money he also ends up paying hefty credit card interest. This results in direct rage against the company and his up-line who suggested such an approach. 3) Because members invest their own money on behalf of others: Sometime, for specific reasons, members pay on behalf of their down-line (because both legs need to be balanced or because a person thinks his friend is very much capable of signing up people or other reasons), and sign-up people for free.
